In October 2007, SRT staff and supporters compiled a 5-year Strategic Plan that provides a framework to help guide SRT’s directors to effectively develop workplans that attempt to fulfill short- and long-term goals. The workshop was attended by government officials, traditional authorities, community members, and other independent collaborators and partners. The strategic plan helped to identify key programme areas, priority objectives and critical success indicators. This strategic plan will also assist in identifying key fund-raising needs.
In addition to continuing with core activities such as monitoring and research, SRT and its supporters agreed that more effort needed to be placed on community outreach, extension and training (see Programmes).
How the strategic plan is implemented depends largely upon raising the necessary funds to fulfill the goals set by SRT, coupled to the resolute persistence and commitment of SRT’s directors and staff.
