PROMOTION & COMMUNICATION

Over the last 25 years, SRT has established a respected profile at the regional, national and international level. Despite this, the organisation remains financially dependant on international donors. To provide greater financial security for the long term, efforts are needed to diversify and expand SRT’s funding base through promotion and communications.

Goal:

Expand the base of support to improve financial self-sufficiency and strengthen SRT’s profile and impact at the regional, national and international level.

Objectives:

  • Develop and implement a long-term funding strategy to strengthen and diversify SRT’s fundraising efforts.
  • Develop and implement a promotional campaign for SRT to complement fundraising activities.

Critical Success Factors for 2008-2012 include the following:

  • Collaborate with current supporters and partners to identify trends and emerging priorities in the donor community, and to clarify opportunities for expansion and improvements in promotion and fundraising strategies.
  • Improve existing competencies within SRT for promotion and fundraising in a manner that does not draw senior personnel away from other critical programme activities.
  • Ensure prompt improvements and ongoing regular updates to the SRT website, given its importance as a first point of reference for many potential donors and supporters.
  • Establish a clear SRT policy to guide corporate donations
